EVALUATION

Chevron will review all eligible submissions according to the following metrics:

  • Innovation: Does the proposed technology offer new performance or a significant performance improvement over incumbent well/completion techniques (that include hydraulic fracturing)?
  • Pathway: Does the proposed technology have a viable pathway to pilot-scale evaluation within 36 months?
  • Credibility: Does the proposed technology have a credible scientific basis and has the response provided sufficient evidence of it?
  • Team: Does the team behind the proposed technology appear to have the experience to develop and deploy the proposed technology?
  • Quality: Does the response provide sufficient compelling and engaging information about the technology and its future use in the field?

RESOURCES FOR ALL APPLICANTS

To create a strong submission, consider the following:

  • All information shared in the response, including all supplemental information, must be non-confidential/non-proprietary. Any submission with confidential or proprietary information may be disqualified from consideration.
  • Everything in the submission must support at least one of the evaluation metrics above. If something does not directly align with at least one metric, replace it with information that does.
  • Prepare an effective pitch deck to include with the submission. Download a useful template here.
  • For additional guidance on how to prepare a strong submission, consult this brief guide.

Effective responses will:

  • Describe a groundbreaking, innovative new technology or approach
  • with a clear summary of the proposed solution and its underlying mechanics,
  • as well as a compelling vision for the future deployment of the proposed solution,
  • which is likely to be ready for pilot-scale field testing within 36 months.

RESOURCES FOR PITCH PRESENTERS

If selected to participate in the virtual pitch presentations, consider the following:

  • Practice your pitch. Be confident that you can deliver it effectively and persuasively within the five-minute timeframe. You may need to adjust your deck and presentation to do so.
  • Identify a suitable location for your pitch. Select somewhere quiet with a strong internet signal, uncluttered background, and good lighting.
  • Review the pitch presentation ahead of time to ensure that nothing is identified as “confidential” and/or “proprietary”, as this may result in exclusion from the pitch.
  • Have your pitch file open and ready to share when you join the session.
  • Be prepared to deliver brief but informative responses to business and technical questions.

Similar to the initial submission, effective pitch presentations will provide a rapid and informative overview of the proposed solution, delivering a clear vision for how it can make significant enhancements to extraction operations in the field.

You may wish to include graphical elements in your pitch presentation that could not be included in the initial submission. This may provide a better understanding of your proposed technology and how it addresses the topic of this Challenge.
